2026 APACPH Executive Council Meeting in Taiwan
On February 5, 2026, the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH) held its first Executive Council Meeting (ECM 1/2026) at the
National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) in Taiwan. Chaired by APACPH President Dr. Hung-Yi Chiou and
facilitated by Vice President of Finance Dr. Betty Ya-Wen Chiu, this hybrid meeting brought together
17 EC members from
9 countries, along with representatives from APACPH’s three constitutionally designated centers: the
Collaborating Centre for Health Promotion (CCHP), the International Cyber University for Health (ICUH), and the Early Career Network of APACPH (ECN-APACPH).
Since 2017, Dr. Hung-Yi Chiou has served as Director of CCHP, while Dr. Betty Ya-Wen Chiu has served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Their long-standing engagement reflects CCHP’s sustained institutional partnership with APACPH.
The ECM is APACPH’s principal governance platform, where organizational performance, strategic priorities, and annual initiatives are reviewed and discussed. This year’s meeting focused on
strategies for organizational transformation and
long-term sustainability. APACPH continues to position itself as a regional academic leading consortium in public health, advancing academic excellence while embracing a service-oriented mission. Member institutions will further strengthen academic and research capacity, delivering impactful knowledge and solutions across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
To further support member engagement, President Chiou proposed leveraging CCHP’s digital educational resources, including more than 90 professional education videos and lecture materials. By extending educational services beyond annual conference, APACPH aims to provide year-round academic support and professional development opportunities to its members, reinforcing its role as both a hub of innovation and a community of practice.

During the financial report session, Dr. Betty Ya-Wen Chiu outlined a sustainable framework for APACPH’s resource management, stressing that long-term organizational stability depends on measurable objectives and transparent governance: “Without measurement, there is no management.” She reiterated that the “Public Health Family” remains central to APACPH’s mission—transforming international collaboration into strong, trust-based partnerships that support sustained institutional development.
The meeting also included a progress update from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), host of the 57th APACPH Annual Conference to be held in October 20~23, 2026. Preparations are actively underway, with an emphasis on scientific programming, international participation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. CCHP will continue its tradition of close collaboration with the host institution and will organize a parallel symposium during the Annual Conference. Since its establishment, CCHP has convened parallel symposia for 8 consecutive years, contributing to regional workforce development by strengthening public health core competency and capacity across the Asia-Pacific region.
Prof. Chung-Yi Li, representative from NCKU, was presenting an update on conference planning as the host institution for the 57th APACPH Conference.
The meeting concluded with appreciation for all EC members and participants for their continued dedication to advancing APACPH’s mission. As an integral part of APACPH, CCHP reaffirms its commitment to strengthening innovation, digital engagement, and cross-cultural inclusiveness in public health. Through strategic development and effective organizational support, CCHP will contribute to enhancing APACPH’s role as a regional platform for advancing health equity across the Asia-Pacific region.
