TMU Global Health Program

Master & Doctoral Programs in Global Health at Taipei Medical University

The Master Program in Global Health and Development (GHD) at Taipei Medical University (TMU) was established in 2011. Currently there are students from all over the world, including Bangladesh, Canada, Malawi, Mongolia, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The program aims to cultivate well-rounded global health talents with professional knowledge, international perspectives, leadership skills, and societal responsibilities, while at the same time providing international medical support, professional training for overseas/domestic health practitioners, and cooperation for an improved international medical and health personnel.

TMU has been a leader in Taiwan's healthcare system for more than half a century, and has quickly become an internationally recognized force in the last decade. In response to the globalization and international disease prevention trend, we have established a comprehensive English curriculum comprised of both theory and practice to guide and teach students to understand major international health governance systems and norms. This allows students to have a well-rounded comprehension of global health knowledge while also actively promoting hands-on training in health safety and global health. Practical studies (e.g., visits to relevant facilities) paired with international cooperation and comparisons with other international students will enhance the student's experience and offer them the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of international health development and global health policy. We believe that those learning in a highly internationalized and multidisciplinary environment will develop the necessary skills and gain the necessary knowledge to become leaders of the global health system.

Established in 2018, the Ph.D. Program in Global Health and Health Security (GHHS) at TMU aspires students to make a difference in our world. With students gathered from all corners of the world, the GHHS program aims to cultivate outstanding global health talents for leadership and organization.
